28th Guinness Irish Christmas Festival

Mit Altan tritt eine der erfolgreichsten und renommiertesten Irish Folk Bands aller Zeiten bei dem diesjährigen Irish Christmas auf.

Während der Stil der Gruppe den Pfad der Tradition nie weit verlässt, spielt vor allem auch die starke instrumentale Komponente der dargebrachten Kompositionen eine tragende Rolle: die wilden Tanzstücke werden in furios schnellem Tempo interpretiert, was, neben den wunderschönen Irischen Balladen, sicher zu den Höhepunkten der Altan-Konzertabende zählt.

Heimat der Gruppe ist das County Donegal: Hier peitschen tosende Winde die rauen Berge und krachen wilde Wellen gegen zerklüftete Küsten. Eine magische Inspiration für die Band und in ihrer Musik hört man förmlich den Wind pfeifen und das Meer tosen.

Als zweite Band eine neue, wunderbar traditionelle Band aus den Midlands: Buíoch. Alle vier Mitglieder kommen aus dem County Laois im Herzen der Insel. Ihre Mitglieder komponierten und arrangieren alle Melodien selbst, was der Band einen traditionellen und dennoch progressiven Sound verleiht, der einzigartig und energiegeladen ist.
