Tribute to a bass legend
»SuperBass« was the name of the album that jazz legend Ray Brown recorded with Christian McBride and John Clayton in 1997, uniting three bassists. Ray Brown remains a benchmark and source of inspiration for generations of bassists to this day. He was a guest at the Vienna Konzerthaus 16 times, for the first time in 1954. After his death three years ago, Christian McBride now pays homage to him in a fantastic trio formation, with Benny Green on piano and Gregory Hutchinson on drums. McBride has already won nine Grammys himself and has performed with greats such as Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, Brad Mehldau, Herbie Hancock and Pat Metheny, as well as with musicians such as Sting, Paul McCartney and Celine Dion. In his guest appearance at the Vienna Konzerthaus, McBride not only pays homage to Ray Brown, but also to the tradition of the classic jazz trio - with technical brilliance and unmistakable musicality.
