Once around the world
When someone goes on a journey, they have a story to tell: Christoph Ransmayr's travel experiences have served as the basis for several literary works, for example in »Atlas of an Anxious Man«. His latest publication, »Egal wohin, Baby«, consists of seventy snapshots that he has turned into what he calls micro-novels. As in a classic photo album, the pictures here become the starting point for a journey around the world. Things that are far apart in time and place are juxtaposed here: Franz Josef Land on the route to the North Pole buried under glaciers, the Brazilian rainforest coast, a garden in the Irish county of Cork, the embattled wilderness between Uganda and the Congo. Photos will be projected onto a large screen to accompany Ransmayr's reading, while Wolfgang Muthspiel accompanies on his guitar with variations on Handel's famous aria »Lascia ch'io pianga«.
