Nureyev’s Dog – A family play with music and dance by Peter te Nuyl and Keren Kagarlitsky
Performed in German with German and English surtitles
Recommended from age 9
A moving and humorous story about friendship, loss, and the world of ballet – told through the eyes of a dog. The legendary dancer Rudolf Nureyev shares his life stories with his dog. After his death, the dog ends up with strict ballet mistress Marika, who sees him as a nuisance – until she realizes he understands far more than she thought.
Based on a novella by Elke Heidenreich, and brought to life by director Florian Hurler, who actually knew Nureyev’s dog and Marika. The music, by Keren Kagarlitsky, blends ballet, opera, and original compositions.
