Hartberg is a city with 6650 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2018) and is located in the province of Styria in the southeast of Austria. It is the administrative center of the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district and is located in the district of Fürstenfeld.

Hartberg is located on the eastern edge of the Styrian Jogllandes at the transition to the Eastern Styrian hill country. The city is located in the east of Styria and is located about 40 km northeast of the state capital Graz.
