Swan Lake - Theatre Broadway Pragu
06.09.2026 - 29.10.2026 | Theatre Broadway
Experience “The Best of Swan Lake” at the Hybernia Theatre in the city centre, performed by outstanding dancers and soloists from the leading Czech ballet companies in an intimate chamber cast.
“Swan Lake” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is a timeless masterpiece filled with magic, romance, and dramatic emotion. The famous story follows Prince Siegfried and the graceful Odette, who is transformed into a swan by the evil sorcerer Rothbart.
Today, the ballet is considered one of the most iconic and beloved works of classical dance. Although Tchaikovsky composed the music in 1875, the original production was not successful at first. Conductors, dancers, and audiences found the score too complex and challenging for ballet at the time. Very little documentation of the original performance survived, with only a few letters and notes remaining.
It was only after Tchaikovsky’s death that “Swan Lake” was revived and achieved worldwide fame. The version audiences know today is largely based on the legendary 1895 choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
