BaBa ZuLa “30th Anniversary Tour“

Auch 30 Jahre nach ihrer Gründung ist diese legendäre Band aus Istanbul nach wie vor der experimentellste Vertreter der vielbeachteten zeitgenössischen türkischen Psych-Rock-Szene, zu der Künstler innen wie Altın Gün, Gaye Su Akyol, Lalalar and Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek gehören. 

BaBa ZuLa wurde von Levent Akman (spoons, percussions, machines, toys) und Murat Ertel (elektrische Saz und andere Saiteninstrumente, Gesang, Theremin) gegründet, die als wegweisende Klangpioniere gelten und eine weltweite Kult-Anhängerschaft aufgebaut haben und zu deren Fans Bands wie Einstürzende Neubauten, Can und Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds zählen. Das renommierte MOJO-Magazin beschrieb sie einst als „türkische Veteranen, die eine Verbindung zwischen Erkin Koray, Can und Mad Professor herstellen”. 

BaBa ZuLa’s Songs sind pulsierende, hypnotische Tracks, die von türkischen Percussions, frickliger Elektronik, tiefen Bässen, einer elektrischer Saz getragen werden. Sie sind oft ein lebhaftes klangliches und politisches Statement einer Band, die uns weiterhin die Zukunft zeigt. 

Apropos Zukunft. 2026 feiern BaBa ZuLa 30-jähriges Bandbestehen. Neben eines Best-Of-Albums wird es auch neue Songs geben. Und das Wichtigste: Eine große Europatour, um all das, was in den letzten 30 Jahren im Bandkontext passiert ist, mit euch gebührend zu feiern.

WUK is a 12000-square-metre space of culture, workshops, and social gathering. Located in one of the biggest cultural centres of Europe, it is also at the intersection of artistic practice, labour, and political engagement. WUK offers a cultural space where one can contemplate, discuss, and explore. The former locomotive factory is now home to our four main program areas (music, theatre/dance, children's culture, arts at Kunsthalle Exnergasse:), 150 independent cultural groups and initiatives, and educational and advisory projects. WUK provides a venue as well as organizational support to those interested in art, politics, and social engagement. We offer various opportunities to get involved, including the use of the venue and organization support for social, artistic, or political projects. Active participation, self-management, and grassroots democracy form the basic philosophy of WUK. Our association is driven by our employees, friends, sponsors, artists, and visitors.
