Edwyn Collins

Mit “A Girl Like You“ landete Edwyn Collins 1995 einen Welthit. Zehn Jahre später der Schock: der schottische Musiker erlitt innerhalb weniger Tage zwei Schlaganfälle! Mit unglaublicher Willensanstrengung kämpfte er sich ins Leben zurück. Ans Aufgeben dachte Edwyn Collins nie, er veröffentlicht seit damals wieder regelmäßig Alben.

Am kommenden Freitag erscheint ein weiteres Meisterwerk von Edwyn Collins: sein Album „Nation Shall Speak Unto Nation“. Das 11 Titel umfassende Album erscheint auf seinem eigenen Label AED Records. Es wurde in seinem Clashnarrow Studio in Helmsdale im Nordosten Schottlands von Edwyn zusammen mit Sean Read und Jake Hutton produziert, und gemeinsam mit James Walbourne (g), William Collins (b), Carwyn Ellis (g) sowie Lena Wright und Bianca White als Backgroundsängerinnen eingespielt. 

„Knowledge“, der erste Titel des Albums, wird von einem Video begleitet, das zwischen Weihnachten und Neujahr in Edwyns Heimatdorf Helmsdale gedreht wurde: 

Über den Titel sagte Edwyn: „Wissen ist etwas, worüber ich nachdenke. Ich war früher ziemlich schlau und bin es in gewisser Weise immer noch. Aber Wissen ist Weisheit, kombiniert mit all den Dingen, die man gelernt hat. Ich denke, ich hoffe, ich habe viel gelernt.“

Ende Jänner 2026 präsentiert Edwyn Collins auf seiner Farewell-Tour „A Last Lap Around Europe“ das Album live in Wien, Linz und Dornbirn. Daneben werden natürlich auch all seine Hits wie „A Girl Like You“ nicht fehlen.
