The Swing Gala with the Viennese vibraphonist Martin Breinschmid and the trumpeter Gerhard Aflenzer with his Broadway Big Band has already become a tradition. Enjoy titles from the repertoire of the bands of Lionel Hampton, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Harry James, etc. The audience is invited on a journey through the time of the great big band era.
Martin Breinschmid is an internationally known and valued vibraphonist, drummer and percussionist. He has performed with musicians such as Buddy De Franco, Terry Gibbs, Peanuts Hucko, Scott Hamilton and Ken Peplovsky and has been a member of the United Stages Vienna Orchestra since 1988.
For the first time, Gerhard Aflenzer managed to get the Austrian jazz singer Simone Kopmajer to perform at the Swing Gala. With her expressive voice, the winner of the 2003 Hans Koller Prize in the New York Scholarship category is one of the most impressive singers in the country. Even at a young age, Simone, who was born in Schladming and grew up in Bad Aussee, achieved exactly what all musicians and bands dream of, namely having a successful international career. Kopmajer's world is the (re)interpretation of the American Songbook. She studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with Mark Murphy and quickly made a name for herself as a jazz singer. In her artistic work she worked with greats such as George Mraz, Victor Lewis, Fritz Pauer and Houston Person.
This brilliant musical combination once again makes the Swing Gala a must-attend event for all fans of this genre.
