Hooverphonic

Hooverphonic ist eine belgische Band, die 1995 von Alex Callier, Raymond Geerts und Liesje Sadonius gegründet wurde. Später kam die Sängerin Geike Arnaert hinzu. Die Band ist bekannt für ihren eklektischen Sound, der Elemente aus Pop, Rock und Electronica kombiniert. 

Das im Jahr 2000 erschienene Album enthält Hits wie “Mad About You” und “Vinegar & Salt“, die Hooverphonic zu Mainstream-Popularität verhalfen und ihre Position in der Musikindustrie stärkten. Das Album” The Magnificent Tree“ ist ein wichtiger Meilenstein in der Karriere von Hooverphonic und verbindet Trip Hop, Pop und orchestrale Elemente. Damit hat die Band weltweite Anerkennung und eine treue Fangemeinde erreicht.

Place

WUK is a 12000-square-metre space of culture, workshops, and social gathering. Located in one of the biggest cultural centres of Europe, it is also at the intersection of artistic practice, labour, and political engagement. WUK offers a cultural space where one can contemplate, discuss, and explore. The former locomotive factory is now home to our four main program areas (music, theatre/dance, children's culture, arts at Kunsthalle Exnergasse:), 150 independent cultural groups and initiatives, and educational and advisory projects. WUK provides a venue as well as organizational support to those interested in art, politics, and social engagement. We offer various opportunities to get involved, including the use of the venue and organization support for social, artistic, or political projects. Active participation, self-management, and grassroots democracy form the basic philosophy of WUK. Our association is driven by our employees, friends, sponsors, artists, and visitors.
