House of Banksy Vienna – An Unauthorized Exhibition
Street art, provocation and social criticism across around 1,700 square metres: “House of Banksy – An Unauthorized Exhibition” brings one of the most extensive Banksy exhibitions to Vienna and transforms the METAStadt into an impressive world dedicated to one of the most mysterious street artists of our time.
More than 150 motifs provide a comprehensive insight into Banksy’s work – including famous graffiti, photographs, sculptures, prints and video installations as well as more recent pieces.
The exhibition presents Banksy’s art on a wide variety of materials including canvas, paper, wood, aluminium, concrete and brick. Elaborately staged reproductions also make it possible to experience works that have long since disappeared, been destroyed or are no longer accessible in their original public locations.
The focus is not only on Banksy’s famous imagery, but also on the social and political messages behind it. His works address themes such as war, capitalism, surveillance, migration, xenophobia, police violence, climate change and social inequality.
The exhibition has been specially staged for Vienna and offers visitors the opportunity to discover Banksy’s art up close – provocative, ironic, political and always surprising.
Important: “House of Banksy – An Unauthorized Exhibition” is a tribute to the artist and, due to Banksy’s anonymous identity, has not been authorized by Banksy himself.
