I Virtuosi dell’opera di Roma - La Traviata

The Orchestra I Virtuosi dellopera di Roma, formed by professors of the most prestigious Italian conservatories, is specialized in performing the whole opera repertoire, specially from the Italian lyrical tradition.

La Traviata, the most famous opera by Giuseppe Verdi, set in Paris in mid 1800, narrates the impossible love between Violetta, a well-known courtesan, and Alfredo, a young good-looking nobleman. Since its beginning, their story is predestined to end in tragedy.

During a party, courtesan Violetta discovers that Alfredo loves her since one year. A short while afterwards they are living together near Paris, but because of her past behaviour, Alfredos father asks her to leave him. Violetta sacrifices herself and Alfredo, unaware, hurts her. A few months later Violetta is dying. Soon Alfredo is there at her bedside. Crying out that she feels life returning, she falls dead in his arms.

The Salone Margherita Theatre opened in 1890 as a café chantant, an intimate venue where people ate while watching variety shows and Opera performances. The theatre Salone Margherita has been completely refurbished and is once again offering the theatre’s original idea of a cafè chantant. A fine dining experience for each performance is offered in the elegant Liberty Halls on the top floor, with reserved seat in the central balcony to see the show, and in its prestigious and exclusive private boxes overlooking the stage. Place

St. Paul’s Within the Walls Church is the most beautiful Anglican Church in Rome, located in Castro Pretorio district, in Via Nazionale. It’s an episcopal church of America, the first non-Catholic church built in Rome after the Unification of Italy. The glass window particularly stands out with scenes from the Life of Saints, along with the mosaics of the apse, representing several Fathers of the Church; the curious thing is that some characters from the 19th century were used to represent someone else: Sant’Andrea has Abraham Lincoln’s face, San Giacomo is Giuseppe Garibaldi, San Patrizio is General Grant, one of the American Secession War’s protagonist. Entering the Church, you will leave outside the Roman antiquities, the frenzy and the traffic noise, discovering a place where it is possible to think and ponder inside a real artwork.
