A simple apple – and the end of paradise. In Adam and Eve, playwright Peter Hacks reimagines the biblical fall of man with a sharp eye for human absurdity and a razor-sharp wit rooted in East German realism. His virtuosic, humorous retelling becomes a passionate plea for freedom and self-determination.

Composer Mike Svoboda, a trombonist and American based in Switzerland, is known for his genre-blending approach between contemporary classical music, jazz, and refined humor. With a background in creating intelligent yet accessible operas for young audiences, Svoboda is the ideal match to transform Hacks' literary satire into a vivid, playful, and thought-provoking opera.

This world premiere production, developed in collaboration with the prestigious Schwetzingen SWR Festival, will be presented this season and will later appear in Linz in the BlackBox of the Landestheater.
