Let’s Forget the World explores the collapse of artistic freedom under National Socialism: dismissals, fear, and persecution strike the ensemble – singers, conductors, musicians and writers – many targeted for their Jewish heritage or political views.

Director Theu Boermans and conductor Keren Kagarlitsky resurrect Jara Beneš’ nearly lost operetta and contrast its cheerful tone with the grim historical truth of the time.

The ensemble of today plays the ensemble of 1938 – in a powerful confrontation with the past.
