María Dueñas / Alexander Malofeev
15.04.2026 | 19:30 | Wiener Konzerthaus - Mozartsaal
Performers:
María Dueñas, violin
Alexander Malofeev, piano
Precision in dialogue
The multi-talented María Dueñas approaches her repertoire as something malleable: she began writing her own cadenzas at an early age, deciding on the instrument depending on the work. She particularly appreciates the violin's colourful range, which allows her to expand her personal expression. She is empathetic in Schubert's duo, for which she has found an equal in Alexander Malofeev. The pianist, who was celebrated early on as a child prodigy, frees himself from the soloist's pose in the duo and perfects his sensitivity in chamber music. In Franck's violin sonata, once written as a wedding gift and premiered in the dark, Dueñas' and Malofeev's approaches intertwine organically. Debussy's last sonata ultimately becomes the manifesto of a young generation that stands for attitude, for risk, for a creative commitment beyond routine gestures.
