Steaming Satellites

Nach Jahren auf der Bühne, unzähligen Festivalauftritten und mehreren gefeierten Alben zählen die Steaming Satellites längst zu den Fixsternen der österreichischen Musikszene.
Mit ihrem unverkennbaren Sound zwischen Indie-Rock, Psychedelic und einem Hauch elektronischer Weite hat sich die Band eine treue Fangemeinde aufgebaut – nicht nur im deutschsprachigen Raum, sondern auch darüber hinaus.

Seit ihrem Debütalbum „Neurotic Handshake at the Local Clown Party“ (2006) waren die Steaming Satellites europaweit und auch in den USA auf Tour.
Ihre Musik wurde nicht nur in den Charts gefeiert, sondern fand auch Eingang in die Filmwelt, etwa mit dem Song „How Dare You!“ im Soundtrack des preisgekrönten Films „Das finstere Tal“.

Beim letzten Album „ANDROMEDA“ widmete sich die Band rund um Singer/Songwriter Max Borchardt der Liebe zum Motown, und dabei ist ein emotional spannendes und genreübergreifendes Potpourri entstanden.

Place

WUK is a 12000-square-metre space of culture, workshops, and social gathering. Located in one of the biggest cultural centres of Europe, it is also at the intersection of artistic practice, labour, and political engagement. WUK offers a cultural space where one can contemplate, discuss, and explore. The former locomotive factory is now home to our four main program areas (music, theatre/dance, children's culture, arts at Kunsthalle Exnergasse:), 150 independent cultural groups and initiatives, and educational and advisory projects. WUK provides a venue as well as organizational support to those interested in art, politics, and social engagement. We offer various opportunities to get involved, including the use of the venue and organization support for social, artistic, or political projects. Active participation, self-management, and grassroots democracy form the basic philosophy of WUK. Our association is driven by our employees, friends, sponsors, artists, and visitors.
